Shrieker's Ogre

======================================================================================================= Shrieker's Ogre (v1.0, the first and the final!) ======================================================================================================= Readme created: 21:11, 2002-03-03 Author, Contact: Shrieker, shrieker@joinme.com, typical TTLG junkie ---------------- Released: 2002-03-04 --------- IMPORTANT: The misfile IS NOT a functional Thief mission. Do not try to load it with DarkLoader. It is intended to use within DromEd only. Description: ------------ This small Thief:The Dark Project mission file is my humble try to bring the famous and obscure two-headed Ogre (a.k.a. Ettin) back to life. Yes, I know I am not the first who made it. Many of the Thief fans know, that the game developers from Looking Glass Studios planned to implement this creature into the game. The Ogre has even appeared on some screenshots from the early versions of the game. Un/Fortunately (choose what you like), they have decided to remove it from the final version of Thief. Behind the Scenes: ----------------- Today, I was alone at home and little bored, so I decided to play with DromEd a bit, and create my own Ogre. I did extract the GIF skin "oger2" into the mesh/txt directory. Then, in DromEd, I created a hammerite zombie and assigned to it the motions of the ApeBeast AI. Quite simple, really => The biggest problem with the skin is, that it was created for the usage with a specific AI model with two heads. This model is, I am afraid, unlike the skin, no longer available in the MESH.CRF. I decided to choose the model of a hammerite zombie, because its body and legs seemed to me enough "bulky" for an ogre. However, the disadvantage of the zombie model is a high collar. The Ogre's head looks best on a model of a male servant, but the torso is quite thin, not enough "ogrish" in this case. The result will not be perfect perfect anyway, since we have no two-headed humanoid AI model. Oh, am I not repeating myself? Tip: The Ogre will be non-hostile to you as long as you'll not threaten him. He will not search for you, still, he is aware of your presence. He's got eyes on the back of his head afterall... You are not equipped with anything but a sword. That should be enough for you. Just be aware of the fact, that he has 50 hitpoints:) Please, go easy on him, he's not much of a social person. Based on: my imagination --------- Build Time: cca 10 hrs. ----------- What to do with it: ------------------- Extract the content of the shriekersogre.zip file into your Thief:TDP directory. Open the shriekersogre.mis in DromEd and enjoy. When you'll finish, especially do not forget to remove the MESH folder! The zipfile contains following files/folders: --------------------------------------------- -shriekersogre.mis -MESH folder, in it TXT and TXT16 folders, each one contains one BenedZ.gif file -this readme.txt file. Other necessary things to say: ------------------------------ Feedback, critics and thoughts are always welcome. If you are a TTLG member, I'd prefer PMs over e-mail. This level is (c) by Shrieker, March 2002. Distribution of this level is allowed as long as it is free and the packages kept intact. Feel free to play with the mission, try to tweak AI's properties, behaviour, look and all. However, no one may edit and re-distribute this mission without my express permission. This level was not made and is not supported by Looking Glass Studios or Eidos Interactive. Nice day to ye, Taffers, and Beware the Dawn of the Ettin Age!
