Briefing:
A nobleman in town is rumored to own The Hand of Glory, in addition to a fairly large amount of valuable items locked away in his house. The rent is due, and Garrett is on the prowl. The weather is bad, lots of rain and thunder and lightning - good for masking those footsteps....must have been nothing...
NOTE: This is my very first Thief mission and by player request, I've gone through it again and have re-released it as version 1.1. Please be gentle! It is actually quite small by Thief standards, so those of you who enjoy more complex maps may not enjoy this very much. However, I focused on atmosphere and moderate detail. I wanted quality over quantity. I also made some of the AIs a little stronger, faster and scarier than they usually are in regular missions. I wanted the player to fear them a little more, to encourage sneaking rather than just killing everyone. Still, you may find it to your advantage to kill them or knock them out, just don't get caught with your pants down. Hiding places are scarce, so you've really got to know what you're doing and where you're going. The more patient you are, the better you'll do. If you try to rush it, you might end up in a lot of trouble.
Special thanks to Looking Glass Studios for releasing the editor and everyone who
signed the petition.

RUNS IN DARKLOADER

KNOWN ISSUES:
1) Sleeping AI may or may not wake up
2) You cannot kill sleeping AI while in bed
3) Some doorways are a little sticky. Clear dead bodies away from doorways if you can
4) AI behavior has been modified. In some cases they may behave strangely.
5) You will not have broadhead arrows. During trial runs I discovered that gameplay is
better without them. (Sorry)
6) Ambient sounds may cut out at times, but are generally stable.

NEW CHANGES IN VERSION 1.1
*WARNING* READING THESE CHANGES MAY SPOIL THE LEVEL A BIT FOR FIRST TIME PLAYERS!!
1.) Pitch black rooms are now at least somewhat lit. I apologize for the black
rooms. I was not able to use the "Ambient light" setting any higher than the
default, because it ruins the optical illusion of a pitch black sky. With the settings
higher, the player can look up and see that there are no clouds, just a boring old
brush with rain coming out of it, which isn't very realistic... Hopefully, this version will fix the lighting problems from the first version satisfactorily.
2.) ObjCast lighting is now implemented....I hope.
3.) All statues in the main hall now carry swords. In the previous version,
one had vanished.
4.) The coin purses that used to be in the vault have been "redistributed" throughout
the level. One or two will be quite hard to find, but I know you can do it. (:
5.) By request, exit objective added.
6.) I tried reducing the rain volume indoors for added realism, but in so doing,
DromEd started ignoring them, and they vanished altogether! Sorry, but the rain
volume will have to remain unchanged.
THANKS FOR YOUR PATIENCE!
