A Servant's Life

This FM contains content that may not be suitable for some people (or any)
If you have a problem with reading material that you would normally find
objectionable please select the Censored difficulty. There is no profanity
or indecent acts, but some of the texts might wreck havoc on your stomach. This
is just how the story goes, but none of this is to disrespect anyone.
Do not eat while playing this FM. If you have a problem with viewing feces or
any activity involving feces then please play on the Censored difficulty.
Any other content in this FM is no different than found in the OM or other FM's.
miss35 does NOT have censored content and will not play automatically. It can be
played through dromed. It can be completed easily by pressing the R button near
the front door.
The manor lord Ramirez is not the same as the one from Thief I.
Ok, this FM involves about nine conversations. Please let the conversations
take place. There are places where invisible barriers are placed. I'm sorry about
this, but this prevents any situation where there is more than one Mr. Oh Dear
visible at once. It also allows the conversations to run where breaking the
conversations would break the FM.
It is possible to access the roof, but there is nothing up there, and there is
no advantage to climbing up there. Anyway the poly counts will exceed the max, so
please stay off of the roof. :)

Date Finished : September 5, 2006
Briefing : Mr. Oh Dear was incarcerated at Cragscleft in the early
years. When Cragscleft closed, all of the prisoners were sold to the nobles as
imprisoned servants. Mr. Oh Dear is the sewer cleaner at the Ramirez manor, and must
complete seven years before he can become an indentured servant. At that point he
will have to work his lifetime at the manor, and must not leave the manor for any
reason. Escaping the manor leads to great consequences that are far from pleasant.
Normally indentured servants become free after they have fulfilled their contract,
however the contracts drawn up by the manor lord state that the indentured servants
are bound to the land forever.
Mr. Oh Dear is a very bad man, although his appearance, wimpiness, and feminine
voice hardly qualifies him as a man. He wears a traditional burgandy tunic & hood,
white leggings, and burrick hide shoes. The tunic & hood are made of the poorest
materials, the only materials this servant could afford. Mr. Oh Dear's tunic is
dirty and bloody, and his leggings are worse.
Mr. Oh Dear always has a frown on his face due to the pathetic life he endures.
Even before he went to Cragscleft Mr. Oh Dear was always sad and hated to be a
servant. He had always endured the worst of everything, at least he thought so
until he arrived at the Ramirez manor. Serving his seven years as an imprisoned
servant, Mr. Oh Dear has been picked on, hit, stabbed, rolled in sewage, put on
the racks, frozen, cooked, nearly drowned, and has been denied any contact with
his family. A coincidence, his brother happens to be an indentured servant at the
same manor. His brother Jack is short, pudgy, and creepy, but otherwise is the same
as Mr. Oh Dear.
Mr. Oh Dear spends the day cleaning the sewers and unclogging the cesspool, and at
night he stands in his personal jail facing the wall. If he is good then he is
allowed to sleep on the floor of his room. Mr. Oh Dear's room is an old storage
room with junk spewed about. The basement is relatively quiet, but Mr. Oh Dear's
room has lots of noises including creaking wood, water running through pipes, a
turbine, and a nearby furnace. Three rats live in the room with Mr. Oh Dear, and
he has taught them to understand his words. He is able to see them now and then
when they are in the light of the tiny candle in the corner.
Mr. Oh Dear is about 1/2 the weight of a normal person. He is fed only two meals
each day. His lunch is a soup which is almost inconsumable, and his dinner is
not much better. [When he is bad he is denied his normal menu, and instead is
forced to eat an alternate menu. He would rather opt-out of this alternate menu,
but has no choice. (except on Censored)]
Mr. Oh Dear gets the worst or least of anything and everything. His food is poor,
his wages are next to nothing, and his land allotment is tiny in comparison to the
other servants.
When Mr. Oh Dear finishes his seven year term as an imprisoned servant, he then
will become an indentured servant. He will then become the farmer's
apprentice, and will no longer have to live in the junk room. He will however
have to live in one of the stalls in the barn. He will lose his friendship with
the rats, and gain friendship with the burricks.
