Title : Damsel in Distress V.2
Filename : Distress_2.zip
Author : Dyald (David Dyal)
Contact info :
Homepage :
Date of release : 10/03/04
Version : 2.0
Beta Testers : Metal Dawn, Comfotably Numb, Silent Warrior
Play info : As long as you aren't seen being a thief, spotted by the local clergy, or in someplace you don't belong you may walk freely in town. There is a stone path leading from the cottage that will lead you uneventfully into town.

EAX : I tried, but I don't have Eax on my system so it is probably all messed up, so you can turn it off in the options if you want. I've been told that it works.

Lighting (Important!!) : When you start the game, you will be looking at a wall with a kind of hole. Adjust your gamma until you can just clearly make out all the edges. The lighting will be set where I intended. There are a couple of very dark areas, so be sure to bring some light along.

Description : This is version 2 of Damsel in Distress, I was not happy with the previous version (only a few played it, as it was not released publicly) and decided to redo it from scratch. This version has taken many many hours to complete. I made it too big, and unfortunately had to remove gobs of detail. I think you will find this version a major improvement if you played v1. Very little of the first version remains, in fact, only the main plot.

Story:
"After the fall of the Mechanists I became too well-known in town and decided to finally set down my lockpicks and retire. I know I have tried this before and it didn't work, but this time I don't really have a choice in the matter. Besides, Basso finally introduced me to his sister Elayne.
The four of us (Basso is married now) decided to open an inn. Since I have a certain reputation in this town, we found an abandoned inn in another town. We have purchased a small cottage, a real fixer upper, and have just started to move in. I am an unknown in this town and it feels good to be able to walk around without hiding in the shadows. As long as I don't get caught thieving or being anyplace I shouldn't I will be fine. There is a small chapel in town run by what looks to be a few Mechanist refugees, they seem to be recruting Hammerites, I've seen both in town and plan on keeping away from them, can't risk one of them getting a good look at me.
We have been here for only a couple of days, yesterday Elayne went to town for some supplies but didn't return. Basso is worried sick I told him to go back to my old hideout to get something that I didn't really need. I'm alone in the cottage and it's time to grab my lock picks once more. I'm sure she is in town, I just have to find her and bring her back."

Hint : Warning possible spoiler!! See bottom.

Everyone who wrote the good tutorials I learned from. And to all who put up with my questions at the guild. And to The Beta testers who also gave some good input. also thanks to Epithumia for hosting for me and my beta testers, and providing us all with a means to upload and release our FMs. Special thanks to Metal Dawn for help with some gameplay ideas and help with some skins.
