INTRODUCTION:

Note: This mission takes place a short time after the events of Thief: The Metal age
This is the first part of two or three? missions I wanted to make back in 05.

===================================================================================

After many nights of flipping through countless books in the Keepers' vast library, I came across something rather interesting. It would seem the Hammers had a few problems with loyalty in the past and some members had broken with the order and formed new factions long before the whole incident with Karras and the Mechanists.

In an old ledger, with pages so brittle I had to be careful not to turn them into dust in my hands, I found a few vague references to a Hammerite church far to the west, in the town of Whitewater. It would seem that they had turned against the order and sealed the town of Whitewater letting no-one leave or enter.

After a few pages with very little information on why they would do this or how they were dealt with, I realized that the Keepers probably didn?t know what had happened to them. However, there was also a letter nicely folded between the pages, no doubt something some Keeper operative had ?recovered? from the Hammers.

The letter was signed by a certain ?Brother Marcus of the Order?

The letter detailed how Brother Marcus was concerned with the way the situation had been handled.
He seemed worried that rumours about a relic they had found and brought to Whitewater could have something to do with what had happened. It also contained a request about allowing him to take a search party there, in order to recover the relic and determine what had become of the people inside the town. It appeared Brother Marcus knew a way to get inside the town, but he made no direct mention of it in the letter. Reading further, however, revealed nothing about whether Brother Marcus went there, or if he succeeded in his task.

The story is worth looking into further, especially if there is a priceless relic of some kind involved just waiting to be found and, if I stay in this library any longer, I'm going to need another bottle of wine, and I'm all out.

First I need to get some supplies for the long trip to the town of Whitewater, and for this I need money.
Because I should know better than going to old Hammerite areas unprepared.

Last week at the pub, I overheard two men talking about a strange sword they had recovered during an expedition. The bartender told me that they were archeologists working for a man named Jones, and he was very willing to part with an address when I presented a purse of coins. He also told me this Mr Jones had already used the sword and some other trinkets from his last expedition to pay off a debt to a local small-time lord.

Luckily this Lord Wizer lives close by, in an old keep he bought from the Hammerites when they left to guard the more important locations in the city.

Well the night is still young.

Important notes and hints:

Make sure you have at least 1 rope arrow at all times since it's the only way to get to the
other part of town.

===================================================================================
Construction:

Base: Base.mis that came with DedEx.
Build Time: 3 months back in 2005, but never released it then due to time issues. Soon after, a hardware upgrade gave me problems getting Thief 2 to run on my new rig (I didn't try hard enough) and I soon forgot it. Got it working now (2008) but have issues with running the misson in dromed. It was finished more or less anyway, although I wanted to add more to it and change some things.

But since I forgot most of how dromed works I figure I would probably break more than I fix if I try to change things now. (Started tutorials again to refresh my memory since I want to do the second part. This misson was made mostly to learn the basics)
