INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

If you know what you're doing, just install this mission using Darkloader or FMSel.
*** THIS MISSION REQUIRES NEW DARK PATCH v1.22 ***
If you're not sure where to begin, refer to the full installation instructions found in the separate Install.doc file.
v1.1 CHANGE LIST
==============================================================
* Changed how an objective works to make a disappearing AI bug less likely.
* Changed all terrain textures to dds format to reduce filesize and potentially increase framerate.
* Fixed a book that was getting cut off.
* Fixed some object textures that were not power of two.
* Updated some ambient sounds that were the wrong quality and playing as static on some PCs.
* Changed the colouring on some textures to make a puzzle clearer.
* Adjusted the position of an important object that was so close to some loot that it could be picked up accidentally without noticing.
* Moved a barrel to make some mantling easier - may still require new_mantle to be enabled.
NOTES

* This mission requires the New Dark patch. The latest version at the time of writing is v1.22. This can be downloaded from here: http://thief.0815x.de/t2_v122.zip. If you do not have the latest version, the game will crash as soon as you try and boot it.
* Please ensure that new_mantle is enabled in your cam_ext.cfg file (New Dark settings file).
* It is also highly recommended that you install the Object Enhancement Pack by Nameless Voice, as this will significantly improve the model quality of the game's original objects and add greater consistency to the mission. KNOWN BUGS

* This mission fully utilises the increased limits of the New Dark patch. As such, the system requirements are significantly higher than basic Thief 2, and you will possibly experience severe frame rate drops in outdoor areas with a low-end graphics card.
* Sometimes teleporting AIs can appear in weird places.
* It has been reported that a plot-crucial AI can sometimes disappear when being carried. This version has changes to the objectives that should reduce the possibility of this, but I was unable to find out the exact root cause of the issue, so it may still be present. If this issue happens to you, you may have to revert to an earlier save in order to complete all the objectives.

I recently paid a visit to an associate of mine, Lyle, who works at the City Museum, in an attempt to find a buyer for some antiquities I happened to have come into possession of. The man has delusions of nobility, and is usually on edge whenever I, a common criminal, go to meet him. This time however, he was clearly deeply worried by something and was acting even more flustered than usual. I wasn't going to pry, but partway through appraising my goods, he appeared to reach a decision, and started begging for my help.
Lyle's daughter, Marianne, recently got a job as a servant at the country estate of Lord Oswin Pavoni, a noble and explorer. Everything had been going fine, and she seemed happy with the work, until five days ago when she didn't come home. When he went to the house to try and find her, they told him she had disappeared and was missing, but would not let him in. Now the Watch have sent a detective to investigate, but no-one is telling Lyle anything.
He wants me to break into the house and find out what happened to her. He didn't have much to offer in return, but to sweeten the deal, he told me about a secret vault rumoured to be hidden somewhere in the house, and provided me with a list of valuable artefacts that I could get a good price for, were they to be liberated from the Pavoni estate.
Lyle's a useful man to know when I need to shift rare antiquities, and it couldn't hurt to have him owe me a favour. He's provided me with a map of the house and an advance on the artefacts I brought him so I can buy equipment. I'll be going in by dropping over the wall near the back of the estate. Once inside, I'll need to find out what happened to Marianne, and of course, locate that vault.
