Description : The Sinkhole

I paid a visit to a reliable fence named Fisher tonight to unload some antique coins, and he practically jumped out of his chair to greet me. He knows I have a way with tight spots and small windows of opportunity, and he had a proposal that involves both.

This particular window is actually a hole in the ground, a sinkhole that formed unexpectedly only this morning, swallowing part of a merchant?s house in Stonemarket. Normally a hole in the ground wouldn?t interest me much, but the depth of this one indicates the presence of a large cave below.

Fisher is a minor player in the City?s archeology circles, which he says were quite abuzz today with news of the hole. Recently uncovered documents from Karath-din referred to a previously unknown ?Tomb of Onitus,? which was located outside of that lost city and is likely in a cave now, if it survived the cataclysm. The treasure-seekers had been racing each other to pinpoint the exact location on a map, and as early as tomorrow they?ll be racing to clamber down this hole, Fisher says. There?s only one way to get the drop on them. I have to go tonight.

Fisher already made preparations for me, with a generous bundle of rope arrows and flares and a lantern that I can hang on my belt. Once I descend into the hole, shadows will not be my allies. No one knows how deep this hole goes...

If you're not sure where to go or what to do next, observe your surroundings carefully.

Planning your return route as you descend will help a lot, and if you feel stuck, it's because there's something you didn't see yet.

The zoom function might be useful in some places (eye zoom, not bow zoom).

If you survive a long fall, you might want to reload anyway (but it's up to you).

This mission is intentionally very dark. There is no ambient lighting. Use the lantern and thrown flares to see in the dark as needed.

Technical matters:

This mission intentionally has a lot of bells and whistles that might cause it to run poorly on older systems
(but it runs well on a 5-year-old computer that was not top-of-the-line when I got it).

This mission was designed with bloom turned off, and the combination of bloom with dynamic lighting and relective custom materials can
look a little bit crazy (but you might like it).

Beschreibung : Das Erdloch

Ich habe einem zuverl?ssigen Hehler namens Fischer heute nacht einen Besuch abgestattet, um einige antike M?nzen einzutauschen, und er sprang f?rmlich von seinem Stuhl, um mich zu begr??en. Er wei?, da? ich mit engen Pl?tzen und schmalen Fenstern gut umgehen kann, und er hatte ein Angebot, was beides umfa?te.

Dieses sogenannte Fenster ist eigentlich ein Loch im Boden, ein Erdloch, das sich heute morgen unerwartet ?ffnete und einen Teil eines Kaufmannshauses in Stonemarket verschluckte. Eigentlich interessiert mich ein Loch im Boden kaum, doch die Tiefe von diesem deutet auf eine gro?e H?hle hin.

Fischer ist ein unbedeutender Spieler in den arch?ologischen Kreisen der Stadt, die - wie er sagt - heute in heller Aufregung ?ber dieses Loch waren. Neulich entdeckte Dokumente von Karath-din erz?hlen von einem bisher unbekannten "Grabmal von Onitus", das au?erhalb der Verlorenen Stadt liegt und wahrscheinlich in einer H?hle sein soll, falls es die Katastrophe ?berstanden haben sollte. Die Schatzsucher schlagen sich darum, die genaue Lage auf der Karte zu bestimmen, und morgen fr?h werden sie in der H?hle um die Wette kraxeln, sagt Fischer. Es gibt also nur eine M?glichkeit, ihnen zuvorzukommen. Ich mu? heute nacht hinabsteigen.

Fischer hat bereits Vorbereitungen f?r mich getroffen; ein gro?es B?ndel mit Seilpfeilen und Leuchtst?ben sowie eine Laterne, die ich mir an den G?rtel h?ngen kann. Sobald ich in das Loch geklettert bin, werden die Schatten nicht mehr meine Verb?ndeten sein. Niemand wei?, wie tief dieses Loch tats?chlich ist...

Diese Mission hat absichtlich viel Schnickschnack, was auf ?lteren Systemen schlecht laufen k?nnte (allerdings l?uft es auf meinem 5 Jahre alten Rechner, der bei der Anschaffung aktuell war).

Diese Mission wurde entworfen, um sie ohne Bloom-Effekt zu spielen. Die Kombination von Bloom mit dynamischen Licht und einigem Custom-Material kann etwas seltsam wirken (aber vielleicht gef?llt's dem ein oder anderen).
